New workshops on how to have a more impactful career

Following an early pilot, we’re excited to share that Probably Good is relaunching our career impact workshops — now updated, refined, and ready to help more people think clearly about how to have a greater impact with their careers!

If you're a group organizer and would like us to run a workshop for your community, get in touch — we’d love to hear from you. The workshops are completely free. They generally take place online, though we can offer them in person in some cases.

We offer three interactive sessions designed to meet people where they are in their impact-focused career journeys. Whether participants are just starting to explore high-impact work or are actively applying to roles, our workshops offer practical frameworks, peer discussion, and actionable next steps.

1. How to Get a Job That Makes a Difference

Best for: People who are already actively applying to high-impact roles, especially EA-familiar participants

Based on our recently published How to Get a Job Guide, this workshop focuses on the nuts and bolts of job hunting: writing strong applications, navigating uncertainty, and uncovering promising opportunities. It’s ideal for people who already know what kinds of roles they want to pursue but want help getting in.

2. Career Impact Workshop: How to Build a Career That Really Makes a Difference

Best for: Students and early-career professionals who are new to EA or thinking about impact for the first time

This session introduces the idea that some careers can do significantly more good than others and walks through how to think about problem selection, promising paths, and personal fit. Participants explore key ideas from our research, hear case studies, and leave with concrete tools for identifying high-impact roles.

3. SELF Framework Workshop: Finding a Role That’s Good for You and Good for the World

Best for: People at any career stage who are weighing different impactful career paths or considering a change

This workshop introduces the SELF Framework, a practical tool to compare specific career paths based on Significance, Efficacy, Leverage, and Fit. Participants apply the framework to their own career considerations in a structured, discussion-based session designed to support thoughtful, personalized decision-making.

We’ve run these workshops at events like EAGx Virtual, EAGx Nordics, and for local communities like EA UK. We’re excited to bring them to new audiences in the coming months — including at EAG London next month!

If you’re unsure which workshop is the best fit, we’re happy to help you determine the right option for your audience.

Great! I'm very interested in how this compares with the most beloved EA format: the "fellowship". If this works well, it will present a number of advantages: more dense; less need for planning; basically no dropping out.

Funny to notice that with my usual "funnel-based" thinking I'd have listed these workshops in the reverse order.
