Courses and communities that can increase your impact

Through our various services, we’ve found that sharing curated resources is a great way to help people increase their impact. With that in mind, we’re excited to share two new collections:

A list of free online courses covering skills like writing, coding, and marketing, plus introductions to various high-priority cause areas.
A list of impactful communities spanning different causes, professions, and affiliations. While most of these will be familiar to people within EA, you may find some you haven’t encountered yet, and the list should serve as a helpful starting point for those new to the space.

Please share these collections with anyone you think could benefit, and let us know if you have feedback or suggestions; we're always on the lookout looking for ways to improve and expand our resources!

Thanks! The online courses page describes itself as a collection of 'some of the best courses'. Could you say more about what made you pick these? There are dozens or hundreds of online courses these days (esp on general subjects like data analysis), so the challenge for pursuing them is often a matter of filtering convincingly.

Thanks for the question! We've sourced the courses based on a mix of:

Soliciting recommendations from domain experts, mainly when asking for resource recommendations during research for other articles (like our career profiles).
Doing our own research to find courses that seemed to be particularly high-quality, reputable, coming from orgs that we think are likely to provide strong overviews, and/or especially relevant to impact-focused careers.

That said, we want to emphasize that these are the best courses we know of; we're certain there are many great courses we don't know about that should also be included on this list (please let us know if you know of any that you think could be relevant).

We'll see if we can make all this clearer in the article!
