Role Summary

EA Hungary is currently run by its director, Milán Alexy, advised by Lili Csabai (operations support), Gergő Gáspár (founder), and Oscar Zollmann Thomas (strategy advisor). We are looking for a highly driven Operations Lead who ensures our current programs run smoothly and facilitates the implementation of new, impactful projects in the future.

As an Operations Lead, you would oversee all main processes of EA Hungary, lead the development and coordination of our courses, manage our CRM, and deliver our mailings, including our monthly newsletter.

Salary: 12-26 USD/hour (pre-tax) depending on experience level
Location: Budapest, Hungary
Workload: 15-30 hours/week

EA Hungary’s mission

EA Hungary’s goal is to support talented students and professionals in building highly impactful careers. The main pillars of our local activity are running courses on effective altruism, providing 1-on-1 career advice, and sharing upcoming opportunities and events on our mailing list.

We also aim to make an impact by improving the global field-building infrastructure. Over the past 2 years, staff members from EA Hungary launched two international projects: Amplify, a marketing organisation providing support to EA/AIS field-builders (read more here), and Scaling Altruism, a project to support EA community builders’ operations through centralised course coordination. We also helped relaunch and professionalise AI Safety Collab, a project in the AIS space that is similar to (but older than) Scaling Altruism.

Key Responsibilities

• Course coordination
  • Spearhead our international programs for students and professionals, delivering high-quality courses.
  • Streamline workflows (e.g., automating the evaluation of applications).
  • Effectively communicate with stakeholders (such as local organisers, program participants, and facilitators) in our programs.
  • The range of responsibilities includes: evaluating applications, group assignments, supporting course mentors, etc.
• Monthly newsletter, other communications
  • Produce and deliver the monthly EA Hungary newsletter
  • Share updates with our mailing list on highlighted events and opportunities
  • Regularly post on our social media channels about important news, events, and opportunities
• Data management, workflow development
  • Manage our organisation's database of course participants
  • Monitor KPIs and generate impact evaluation reports
• Other responsibilities may include
  • Running local events in Budapest
  • Supporting volunteers
  • Providing career advice

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • You will be responsible not only for successfully implementing the projects, but also for developing improvements to make them more effective over time.
• Have solid contextual knowledge of effective altruism
  • You have a good understanding of EA concepts (at least equivalent to having done the introductory course), and you are knowledgeable about the main EA cause areas and the organisations working on them

Preferred qualifications (these are not required but are an advantage):

• Experience in operations work
• Experience in project and/or program management
  • Work history, certifications, etc.

Contract

• Start: Flexible
• Compensation (entry-level): 12-16 USD/hour (pre-tax)
  • Depending on the candidate’s qualifications and work experience, we may offer a higher rate than this, up to 26 USD
• Commitment: 15-30 hours per week
• Vacation: 25 days of paid vacation per year
• Contract period: ~5 months (following a 2-month trial period), renewable based on performance and organisational funding
