Joe Rogan on AI Safety

In episode #2331 of the Joe Rogan Experience, which came out earlier this month, Rogan discusses AI safety for the first part of the episode. It’s roughly minute 5 to minute 17, though I could be a little off.

He is astonished and appalled about the provision in OBBBA that outlaws regulation of AI for ten years. I found this notable for a couple reasons: (1) Rogan obviously has a large audience and is very politically influential. (2) I was surprised he did not make the connection that that provision of the bill was probably inserted by Trump’s VC supporters like Marc Andreesen. Andreesen was just recently on the Rogan podcast celebrating Trump’s election because he opposed the way the Biden Administration was trying to regulate AI. At that time I got the impression that Rogan was on the same page as Andreesen on this topic.
