New technologies are providing many opportunities to improve philanthropic and development efforts, as well as the quality and quantity of evidence that’s available to assess these efforts. Some are approaching philanthropy with a mindset similar to that of a venture capitalist, with some choosing to invest in well-proven interventions, and others investing in more speculative, but potentially very high return organizations and projects. There needs to be greater intersection between philanthropy and data, and there also needs to be cooperation between for-profit companies, non-profit organizations, and governments.
