Open Philanthropy’s Farm Animal Welfare team is hiring!

We’re looking for a Program Assistant to support the team’s work to reduce the suffering of farmed animals by managing processes, coordinating logistics, and keeping complex administrative projects on track.

We’re looking for someone who is:

• Organized and efficient: able to juggle time-sensitive tasks while keeping longer-term projects on track. We have a high bar for team members’ output, and being efficient will make it much easier to meet those expectations.
• Detail-oriented: careful with data and processes, with a strong instinct for getting things right and catching mistakes.
• Service-minded: happy to take on behind-the-scenes operations work that helps the team succeed, even when it’s repetitive or unglamorous. You’d be happy to remain in an operations role for at least a couple of years.
• Motivated by the mission: invested in helping farmed animals. (Formal experience in the field is not needed!)
• A clear communicator with good judgment: able to express ideas well and handle sensitive topics professionally.

This entry-level role will involve a mix of operations, grantee engagement, data tracking, and special administrative projects to help our small, distributed team stay effective.

• Title & pay: Program Assistant; baseline compensation is $96,488.73 per year.
• Location: While we can’t sponsor visas, we’re open to candidates based outside the U.S. if they can overlap with U.S. working hours.
• Start date: As soon as possible after receiving an offer (ideally late spring or early summer 2025).
• Application deadline: 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on Sunday, May 4, 2025.
