Effective petitions (July 2026)

Below are seven high impact petitions that you can sign. Each petition deals with a problem that is at least 10 times as big, 10 times as easy to mitigate or solve and 10 times as neglected as the problems dealt with in most other petitions. That makes these petitions at least 1000 times as effective or impactful as most other petitions. In other words: signing one of them is equivalent to signing more than 1000 average, common petitions.

  1. Demand an international AI treaty
  2. Say no to superintelligent AI
  3. Demand responsible AI development
  4. Demand EU support for precision fermentation and cultivated meat in the Biotech Act
  5. Demand an end to cruelly-bred Frankenchickens
  6. Increase legal protections for farmed fish at the time of killing
  7. Ban octopus farming

I think these all seem like petitions worth signing. But I think statements with unfounded impact estimates should be avoided on the forum. Not only do the numbers seem arbitrary, and then the result of 1000x very arbitrary, they also aren't obviously true - I'm not sure that 1, 2, or in fact any of these are 10x as easy to mitigate or solve as the average petition.Â
