UK Voters for Animals is running our 2nd mass lobby day! Tuesday 10th November.

Last year, around 100 pro-animal voters came to the UK Parliament for a mass lobby day, run by UK Voters for Animals, to call for an end to cages and crates for farmed animals. This was the first time many of these people had engaged with political advocacy, and together we had over 30 meetings with MPs and their teams about ending cages and crates for farmed animals. (Since then, the UK Government has run a consultation on phasing out cages for layer hens, thanks to the efforts of many dedicated groups and volunteers over time).

With a bit more experience under our belts, we're organising another Mass Lobby Day in Parliament on Tuesday, the 10th of November, and we need YOU to join us.

This time, we take on Frankenchickens: fast-growing chickens that are bred to grow 400% faster than is natural, reaching slaughter weight in as little as 35 days. Their bodies cannot keep up with their own growth. They suffer chronic lameness, heart and lung failure, and hock burns from lying in their own waste, often too heavy to stand. Many suffer from the day they hatch to the day they are slaughtered. 

On the back of the success of a huge advertising campaign from Project Slingshot and the Pret campaign from Anima we want to harness the public outrage around the treatment of the 1 billion chickens killed each year in the UK and turn this into concrete progress for animals.

Event details: 

• Date: Tuesday 10th November, 10am - 5pm.
• What? We secure a meeting with your MP or their team to talk about Frankenchickens, what the UK Government should do about it and what your MP can do specifically.
• Where: We've booked a venue in Westminster where you can hang out and/or co-work throughout the day, if your job allows, and you don't want to take the whole day off work. The meetings will be in Parliament.
• No experience is needed, we will provide resources and training on how to have a productive conversation with your MP. 

A bonus: you will get to spend the day meeting other cool people who care about helping animals and doing good in the world!
