Free virtual offices available on EA Gather Town

With Gather Town announcing a sharp price hike and removal of their free tier, we wanted to remind both organisations and remote-workers/students/anyone individually interested that the EA Gather is still available - and currently free for marginal use.[1]

Individuals

Just show up and start coworking :) The starting map is a public space, so you can feel free to join anyone on there, even those in offices (orgs who want privacy have their offices on a different map). Use this invite link if you want private message and avatar permanence while you're there.

If you want semi-guaranteed coworking, I'm typically online between about 3am and 11am UTC every weekday, and Anima staff are usually around for a couple of hours from 11am Mondays and Fridays after their weekly meeting.

Organisations

The offer for a custom office from this post is still open. At the moment, we have space paid for 60 concurrent users, and we coordinate by this calendar so that you can avoid major event overlaps. In the longer run we're hoping orgs using the space will contribute an amount in proportion to their use - making it extremely cheap for everyone - but for now you can just use it for free[1] :)

Feel free to ping me (@Arepo)  if you're interested in a regular presence, but if you want quick-start private offices, feel free to use as many of the  offices in this area as you like.

Access to the public map is via the teleporter south of the hallway on the left

(we neither pay nor are paid for this space, and aren't affiliated with either Gather Town the company or with Anima - we build and use the EA Gather for the love of  what it currently is and what we want it to grow to be for the EA community)

If you're wondering why, Anima International are currently paying for the majority of the costs for their large biweekly meetings. I'm personally hoping that other organisations will eventually be share the cost with them but the tax laws in Poland are sufficiently prohibitive that at the moment they're not even accepting new GT-related donations.

Thanks a lot for maintaining this space! It's been great coworking with you and others in GatherTown, I love how it creates a cozy, friendly atmosphere akin to that of a physical office.
Strong reco for others to come (especially remote workers) and experiment with this solution.
