The animal advocacy movement has become more professional in recent years, but it still treats its invisible, nighttime workers poorly. Investigations into the lives of farmed animals are the backbone of this movement, yet little is known about the hidden struggles faced by those on the front lines. At Reporters for Animals International—a meta-charity supporting investigators—we recently conducted a survey to better understand their wellbeing.
Key findings include:
– 65% earn less than 20,000 EUR/USD per year.
– 63% said they sometimes or always have financial concerns.
– 65% reported that being an investigator has affected their health.
