We are excited to share the 2024 annual reports for the NYU Center for Mind, Ethics, and Policy (CMEP) and the NYU Center for Environmental and Animal Protection (CEAP).

We are thrilled to report that 2024 was a transformational year for CMEP, as we became a permanent center with a $6 million endowment, released widely covered work related to animal and AI welfare, and initiated a number of exciting projects on topics ranging from interspecies welfare comparisons to nonhuman legal personhood.

This was also a pivotal year for CEAP. We released a number of influential projects related to farmed and wild animals. We also appointed a new leadership team, as Founding Director Dale Jamieson retired following nearly 50 years of impactful scholarship, leadership, and mentorship in environmental and animal studies.
