About the role

Collider is hiring a Program Manager to design, run, and scale programs that grow the talent pipeline and infrastructure for AI safety in New York. You'll own programs end-to-end — from concept to launch to iteration — working closely with researchers, practitioners, educators, funders, and partner organizations across the field.

You'll be a strong fit if you've run cohort programs, fellowships, conferences, or training initiatives before, and you understand the AI safety ecosystem well enough to make smart calls about who to partner with, what kinds of programs are most needed, and how to tell whether they're actually working.

What you'll do

• Design and operate fieldbuilding programs — fellowships, training programs, workshops, conferences, cohort-based courses, or new formats we haven't tried yet
• Run programs end-to-end — own the budget, timeline, vendor relationships, participant experience, and post-program evaluation
• Recruit and coordinate mentors, instructors, advisors, and participants; build the pipelines and selection processes that keep program quality high as we scale
• Define and track outcomes — set up metrics that go beyond vanity numbers (participant satisfaction is necessary but not sufficient), and iterate on program design based on what the evidence shows
• Build and maintain relationships with partner organizations across the field: research labs, university groups, training programs (e.g., MATS, ARENA, BlueDot, SPAR, AI Safety Camp), grantmakers, and adjacent communities
• Represent Collider at conferences, partner meetings, and within the broader community
• Write program reports, internal strategy memos, post-mortems, and external-facing materials
• Collaborate with leadership on portfolio strategy: which programs to launch, which to scale, which to sunset

What we're looking for

Required

• 3+ years of program or project management experience, ideally including running cohort, fellowship, or training programs.
• Substantive understanding of the AI safety field — its major organizations, the main research agendas (alignment, interpretability, evaluations, governance, etc.), and the open problems people are actually working on.
• Strong operational instincts: participants, partners, and colleagues consistently experience your programs as well-organized, on-schedule, and thoughtfully run.
• Entrepreneurial: you treat the program like it's yours. You take initiative without waiting to be asked, adjust course quickly when the situation changes, and are comfortable making the kinds of judgment calls — about people, partnerships, and priorities — that come with operating in a fast-moving, high-stakes field.
• Clear communicator and collaborator: you write well for both internal and external audiences, share context proactively, and make sure teammates, mentors, and partners are never wondering what's happening or where things stand. You give and take feedback well, and you'd rather over-communicate than leave someone guessing.

Nice to have

• Prior experience at an AI lab, AI safety organization, university AI safety group, training program, or grantmaker (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI, DeepMind, Redwood, METR, Apollo, MIRI, Open Philanthropy, Longview, Kairos, etc.).
• Background in education, talent development, or community-building.
• Technical literacy in ML or alignment topics — enough to read a paper and follow the argument.
• Policy literacy: familiarity with the AI governance and policy landscape — major actors, current legislative and regulatory developments, and the main debates shaping the field.
• Background in finance, law, or another professional field where AI safety needs to attract talent — we're actively interested in candidates who can help us build pipelines into communities we don't yet reach well.

Logistics

• Location: Hybrid in New York
• Compensation: $150,000 — $180,000
• Benefits: Health insurance, 401(k), 20 days PTO
