How can I help first-year university students to settle on their academic interest?

I recently started working as university professor and I am assigned to advise some new student.
Our university is a bit unusual in my country in that students do not decide their major at the very beginning. They are allowed to take courses in different academic field and decide what they want to study later. So I get questions from students what courses they should take to explore their interests.
I wonder if there is some books, methods or tools that I can recommend to students.
I want to point them to 80000 hours. But would it still be useful for someone who has no inclination towards having an impact on the world?

I like Designing Your Life by Bill Burnett - one of the best books I've read on the topic.
