Hey everyone!

I wanted to let you know about EA NYC’s online reading group event we're hosting next week to discuss the "Replacing Guilt" series of essays by Nate Soares, available in the Effective Altruism Forum Library. This has been a very popular read among EAs and if you've already read the series, we'd love for you to join us for a great discussion. And if you haven't had the chance to read it yet, the series is also available as an (only 6 hours-long) audiobook, so we hope you can still join in on the conversation by next Monday!

In "Replacing Guilt," Soares presents a framework for taking effective action without being held back by guilt. He also encourages readers to “remember what [they're] fighting for[, and to] always deploy [their] full strength in order to hit [their] quality target,” no lower and no higher.

We think this series is a valuable read for anyone interested in Effective Altruism, and we hope you'll check it out!

The event will be held virtually next Monday, January 30th at 7:30 pm Eastern Time, and you can RSVP here.

Also, if you're interested in taking part in our reading group in general, feel free to join our Slack channel! We have regular discussions and book club events, and we'd love to have you be a part of it, whether or not you’re based in New York.

I hope to see you next Monday. In the meantime, feel free to reflect personally or share in the comments: “What are you fighting for?”
