EA Brazil announcing the Effective Article Prize

We are excited to announce the Prêmio Artigo Eficaz (Effective Article Prize) for 2025, an initiative by Altruísmo Eficaz Brasil to promote and recognize impactful academic research on global challenges by researchers in Brazil.

Articles and essays can be submitted until June 30, 2025.

Prize Details:

The prize will award six winners across three key themes:

Global Catastrophic Risks
Animal Welfare and Food Systems
Economic Development, Poverty Reduction, and Public Health

Each winning submission (one article and one essay per theme) will receive R$ 1,500 (~US$260).

In addition, twelve honorable mentions will be awarded to other noteworthy submissions.

Submission Guidelines:

Deadline for Abstracts: June 30, 2025
Submission Results: July 30, 2025
Revised Submissions (if required) due by July 25, 2025
Eligibility: Open to anyone, provided at least one author is Brazilian or resident in Brazil.

Themes:

Global Catastrophic Risks: Topics include climate change mitigation, AI safety, biosafety, and geopolitical risks.
Animal Welfare and Food Systems: Focuses on reducing animal suffering, expanding moral circles, and related economic issues.
Economic Development, Poverty Reduction, and Public Health: Research on climate change’s effects on poverty, mental health, water security, and more.

Evaluation Criteria:

Relevance to the proposed themes
Originality of the approach
Feasibility and potential impact
Quality of argumentation and clarity of writing
Applicability to current challenges in Brazil and globally
