Overview 

In only a few years since its founding, EA for Jews has rapidly built momentum — running successful programs like intro fellowships, community events, and partnerships with Jewish institutions. With our founding Managing Director departing to pursue law school, we are now hiring for this key leadership role to guide EA for Jews through its next phase of growth. 

If we find a candidate who prefers the Managing Director role on a part-time rather than full-time basis, we will also hire for part-time positions in program and community management.

Managing Director

About the Role 

As the Managing Director, you will play a pivotal role in growing EA for Jews as an organization and presence within the global Jewish community. This position involves a diverse range of responsibilities including strategic decision-making and leadership, community engagement, partnership development, program management, and organizational leadership. You will be at the forefront of introducing effective altruism to Jewish audiences and empowering them to significantly increase their impact. 

The role could be part or full-time depending on your preference and availability.

Key Responsibilities: 

As the Managing Director, you will be responsible for:

• Leading initiatives to introduce EA principles, foster deeper engagement, and support impact
• Growing and formalizing the organization and its structures
• Securing funding to sustain and expand the organization's reach and programs
• Cultivating a community of people within the Jewish world using their careers and/or donations to effectively solve global challenges
• Actively engaging Jewish communities and organizations to build partnerships
• Hiring and managing staff and potentially volunteers, nurturing a culture of excellence and meaningful impact

• Understands the effective altruism movement and the landscape of the Jewish community

Program Director 

About the Role 

As the Programs Director, you will play a key role in executing EA for Jews' core programs and initiatives. This is a part-time position (10-20 hours per week with the possibility of going full-time in the future)) focused on the hands-on management, marketing, and evaluation of our fellowships, events, volunteer efforts, and other activities. You will work closely with the Managing Director to ensure seamless operations and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities: 

As the Project Manager/Program Lead, you will be responsible for:

• Marketing fellowships, events, and other programs to attract robust applicant/attendee pools
• Scheduling and coordinating logistics for program cohorts, event series, etc.
• Organizing and promoting EA Shabbat Dinners and community events
• Managing the recruitment, training, and oversight of program volunteers
• Tracking program data and participant details in systems like Airtable
• Developing marketing copy, graphics, and other program materials
• Implementing measurement & evaluation practices for programs

• Experienced in project management, operations, and wearing multiple hats
• Strong marketing, communications, and basic design abilities
• Skilled at data tracking, measurement, and impact evaluation

• Able to manage numerous concurrent programs and pivot priorities
• Highly organized and attentive to detail in execution
• Excited to work in a lean, start-up environment

This is a part-time, remote contractor role compensated on an hourly basis commensurate with experience. Hours are flexible with a range of 10-20 hours per week. Transitioning to a full-time role is possible. 

Community Manager

About the Role 

As the Community Manager, you will play a vital role in building and nurturing EA for Jews' core community of participants. This is a part-time position (10-20 hours per week, with the possibility of going full-time in the future) focused on welcoming new members, facilitating programming, leading events, and providing personalized support to empower our community in increasing their impact. You will be the face of the organization and a key driver of our engagement efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

 As the Community Manager, you will be responsible for:

• Conducting introductory 1-on-1 calls with new members interested in learning more about EA for Jews
• Getting to know our community and program participants and managing our community relationship management (CRM) system
• Advising participants by suggesting relevant EA resources, connections, and opportunities
• Facilitating discussion groups and cohorts for fellowships and courses
• Planning and leading interactive EA Shabbat Dinners and other community events
• Giving introductory EA presentations to new audiences
• Writing regular newsletters and program communications
• Managing our Slack community and social media presence

• Skilled communicator able to convey EA ideas in a clear and compelling way
• Knowledgeable about effective altruism with a pulse on the latest in the community (or eager to rapidly get up to speed)

• Comfortable taking initiative and managing numerous community touchpoints
